A major brand is taking over an Asian grocery store space in Metro Vancouver — here’s what we know

Many were sad to hear the news that Meiga Supermarket, the new Asian grocery store concept from Georgia Main Food Group, would be closing its only location after just 18 months of operation. However, we now have word of what will be taking over the space.
The Pattison Food Group shared that Save-On-Foods will be opening in the former Meiga space at 221 Ioco Rd., Port Moody. The last time the company operated a store in Port Moody was in the ’80s under the Your Mark-It Foods banner.
“We’re so excited to be back in Port Moody,” said President Jamie Nelson. “This new store reflects our commitment to meeting the unique needs of each neighbourhood we serve. It’s a great location that will deliver the same great quality, service, and local products our customers know and love – just in a more compact footprint.”

The store will be 13,000 sq. ft. and plans to offer a full selection of fresh, high-quality produce, meat, dairy, and other grocery essentials. It will also feature a Save-On-Foods Kitchen serving up items like fresh sushi and bento boxes, alongside freshly baked cakes and pies.
“Port Moody is such a unique and vibrant community, and we’re very proud that we’re going to be part of it soon,” said store manager Steve McCue. “Save-On-Foods is well-known in the Tri-Cities and the team can’t wait to welcome our neighbours into the store later this fall.”
Save-On-Foods Port Moody is expected to open its doors sometime in mid-September.
