After reporting on the new venture back in June, brothers Dom and Frank Morra are ready to open the doors to their latest venture: Rosalia Osteria.
The pasta-focused restaurant was named in honour of the Morra brothers’ grandmother and acts as a love letter to the Sunday dinners that shaped their childhood.
You may recognize the brothers from their other popular Vancouver brands like Via Tevere, Dante Italian Sandwich, Don’t Argue Pizza, and Straight Outta Brooklyn. This time, the team chose to launch their latest project in Yaletown because of its vibrant culinary energy.
“Yaletown has become a haven for great local restaurants, and there’s an energy here that is unmatched in the city. We’re thrilled to be part of an amazing dining community,” the Morra brothers shared.
Leading the kitchen at Rosalia Osteria is culinary director Phil Scarfone, a seasoned chef with over 20 years of experience spanning fine dining and rustic Italian cuisine. Scarfone has previously served as opening head chef at both Nightingale and Elio Volpe, and as culinary director of Banda Volpi. He was also a runner-up on Top Chef Canada Season 7.

“My food is grounded in seasonality and simplicity, which is inherently an Italian
approach,” said Scarfone. “We will have the classics, but with our own small tweaks to make everything the best version of these classics. I am here to facilitate and build a program that will be long-lasting and exciting for our guests.”

At the heart of the menu, folks will find an exclusively fresh, house-made pasta program featuring classics like spaghetti, rigatoni, lasagna, and gnocchi, alongside weekly rotating specials. There will also be comfort classics like traditional lasagna and slow-cooked Sunday sugo, paired with a focused wine list and classic Italian cocktails.

The space itself spans 600 sq. ft., with 33 seats (13 indoors and 30 more on its garden-inspired courtyard patio) and was created by Tomlenovich Design. Guests can expect soft rose tones and timeless European details, channeling the warmth and romance of southern Italy in a tribute to the Morra family’s roots and years of travel through the Italian countryside.
Rosalia Osteria will softly openĀ for dinner service seven nights a week starting Nov. 7, with a takeout program and lunch service to follow shortly after.
