Kumail Nanjiani was spotted at a Vancouver restaurant over the weekend

We didn’t think the year could get any more exciting for Vancouver’s Kavita. Hot on the heels of its newly appointed Bib Gourmand status at the 2026 Michelin Guide Vancouver ceremony, A-list celebrity Kumail Nanjiani made a stop at the restaurant.
Chef and owner Tushar Tondvalkar shared a photo of Nanjiani with staff at the restaurant, adding that the actor was very nice to the team. Tondvalkar also said that Nanjiani ordered from the a la carte menu, but said he would be returning to try Kavita’s signature amma-kase menu.
Nanjiani is currently in Vancouver to filmĀ Very Young FrankensteinĀ ā a new FX comedy series with a pilot directed by Taika Waititi starring Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, and Cary Elwes.

As for Kavita, the contemporary South Asian restaurant opened its doors a little over a year ago. Helmed by Tondvalkar, the team is serving Indian cuisine prepared with local ingredients, with a menu inspired by Tondvalkar’s roots in Mumbai and the coastal town of Malvan, as well as his mother (which the restaurant is named after). It’s best known for its amma-kase menu, which is Kavita’s version of an omakase tasting menu.
