Vancouver bar hands over the reigns for monthly 'guest shift' series

Vancouver’s award-winning Prophecy is handing over the bar and kitchen in a new, monthly “guest shift” that pairs bartenders with different chefs.
“A guest shift is about community and collaboration,” said Matteo Caniglia, general manager of Prophecy. “Plenty of bars host guest bartenders, but we love that this gives them a chance to cook up something with a chef or kitchen teammate they admire. Vancouver is full of people doing remarkable work, and we want to hand them our bar for a night and make it warm, welcoming and a whole lot of fun.”
The first of these guest shifts will be Edward Bell and Sean Suggett on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Edward Bell and Sean Suggett (Prophecy)
Bell spent over eight years as bar manager at Brandi’s Showlange, and he and Suggett are preparing to open Submarine Dive Bar. This new bar is described as an approachable, industry-focused cocktail bar coming to Chinaown, and is being built alongside partner Joe Casson.
During their Prophecy takeover, the two will serve drinks inspired by Beam Suntory spirits alongside mini submarine sandwiches (a preview of what’s to come at Submarine).
Then, on Sunday, Nov. 15, Jon Merrill and Dani Hackenberg will be bringing the spirit of Bar Bravo to Prophecy.

There will also be guest shifts on Jan. 17 and Feb. 21, with local teams to be announced at a later date.
