Pret A Manger announces "significant expansion" across Canada with first new location in Metro Vancouver

You may have seen the name Pret A Manger the last time you stopped by an A&W, as the fast food chain has been serving Pret coffee at its locations across Canada. But now, the London-based coffee chain is looking to expand further in the Canadian market, which includes multiple standalone locations across the country, the first of which will be at YVR Airport.
A&W Food Services of Canada, which holds the exclusive Canadian rights to develop and operate the coffee brand, announced that it plans to start a significant expansion of Pret’s Canadian presence, following the launch of its second Canadian store in downtown Toronto.
A&W’s Pret Canada business is being led by Managing Director Paul Hughes, who is a seasoned restaurant industry executive who has worked with multiple Canadian franchised brands like Freshii.
“Airports are a natural fit for Pret,” said Hughes. “Travellers today are looking for food that is fresh, high quality, and fast ā whether they’re grabbing a coffee before an early flight or looking for a healthier meal option while in transit. Pret delivers that experience in a way that’s convenient, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.”
Pret A Manger is an international food and coffee chain that was founded in London in 1986. It’s best known for its freshly prepared food made daily, alongside organic coffee. Expect to find a wide array of breakfast, lunch, snack, and beverage offerings at this new location.
According to Ben Ma, Vancouver Airport Authority’s Director of Retail Passenger Experience, Pret is an exciting addition to the airport’s award-winning food and drink offerings.
“At YVR, we’re continually looking for opportunities to elevate our food and beverage offerings and enhance the passenger experience. The arrival of Pret A Manger adds another globally recognized brand to our airport and is part of our broader strategy to provide travellers with more convenient and healthy choices throughout their journey,” said Ma.
“Canada represents an important growth opportunity for Pret,” Hughes added. “We’re seeing strong consumer demand for fresh, high-quality food served quickly and conveniently. We’re excited not only about our airport growth, but also about working with our franchise partners to expand Pret into more cities and transit locations across Canada in the years ahead.”
