'Popina Canteen's' patio is a must-hit before summer's over
So, winter is coming. Just kidding, or least, it’s not coming yet.
Before we gear up to bundle up and tuck into the toasty corners of our favourite restaurants and bars around town, let’s keep life good with tank tops and patios, am I right?

We’ve still got some sweet, sweet summer left to enjoy, and for those of you that are fond of patio hopping, Popina’s space is a good one to plunk down and enjoy on a sunny Vancouver afternoon.
The bright shipping container counter-service eatery has been serving up a new selection of light mixed drinks along with lemonades and iced teas made with homemade syrups, top-shelf spirits, and seasonal fruit and herbs from a new cocktail and lemonade stand.
Something that this spot has been serving up since opening last July, is handhelds.
Burgers, sandwiches, and rolls are all up for order here. The East Coast Lobster Roll paired with the Hoi Polloi lager brewed by Powell Street specifically for Popina.
If seafood’s not your bag (they also offer fish and chips and steamed whole Dungeness crab), the Crispy Free Run Chicken Sandwich might hit the spot.
Made with honey hot sauce and all the fixings, a side of Popina’s shoestring fries make the meal complete.
If you’re not completely stuffed from the selection of handhelds, it wouldn’t be a trip to Popina unless you grabbed a puff cream.
There are nine varieties to choose from and the best part? You can enjoy it in the covered, waterfront patio, safely away from the terrifying aggressive Granville Island seagulls.
While Popina operates in the colder months too, there’s really nothing like enjoying this kind of fast fare in the sun.
