One of B.C.'s top restaurants has closed after over a decade

After an 11-year run, the team at Pilgrimme has shared that they have closed the doors to the restaurant.
The news comes hot off the heels of its inclusion in Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list, where it was ranked 84th.
“Iāve always had mixed feelings about lists. How do you quantify so many unique establishments across such a vast landscape? Each seemingly so different and special in all manner of ways. That said, we are incredibly grateful for the recognition and what a way to end this fantastic ride,” shared the restaurant on its Instagram.

Located on Galiano Island, Pilgrimme was a bucket list restaurant for many folks. The restaurant was an intimate, fine dining establishment located deep in the forest. Here, chefs Jesse McCleery and Melanie Witt served a seasonal menu heavily influenced by locally foraged and ethically sourced ingredients.
“The last 11 years here have been a crazy, wild journey with the most amazing people. So much gratitude and love for our little restaurant family,” added the restaurant.
However, the restaurant did tease that there was “more to come,” so we can anticipate that a new project from McCleery and Witt will eventually be announced.
