Open
Pepino’s Spaghetti House
Pepino’s offers weekday lunches from 11:30 am to 2 pm, along with daily dinner service starting at 5 pm. Along with the new restaurant, the building will house Caffe La Tana, a cafe and store right beside Pepino’s.

Popina Canteen
Popina, a project backed by four all-star local chefs including Angus An, Robert Belcham, Hamid Salimian, and Joël Watanabe, is shaping up quickly. The eatery recently started slowly introducing their menu to the public, giving patrons a chance to preview their eats.

Fiore Famiglia
It has been just over a year since beloved eatery Trafalgers Bistro closed its doors in June 2017. The 1,200-sq-ft eatery was replaced by Fiore Famiglia, the new sister restaurant to South Granville Italian restaurant Fiore (1485 W 12th Avenue).

Laurence & Chico Café
The Laurence & Chico Café will be open Monday through Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm, and a once the Afternoon Tea Service is up and running later this summer it will be offered from noon to 6 pm for $46 a person.

BREWHALL
BREWHALL, the newest concept from Vancouver’s Tap & Barrel, opened on July 11. The brewery took over the former address of Steel Toad Brewery and is “the first and only place of its kind in Vancouver incorporating a brewery and a large-scale beer hall.”

Edwards Seafood and Spirits
Edwards Seafood and Spirits is now open in the former space of the OG Bao Down at 12 Powell Street. The restaurant is officially operating for lunch and dinner service.

Our Town Cafe
Located at 245 East Broadway, the longtime local gem has unveiled a new website and a chic new space on June 16. While a lot has changed aesthetically, their offerings (aka those irresistible muffins) are back in action and people are very happy about it.

Origo Club
The new Richmond spot will be soft launching during its first few weeks of service and will be open five days a week (Tuesday to Saturday). Eventually, Origo plans to be open seven days a week from 10 am to 11 pm.

The new 327 E Broadway teahouse, cafe, and bakery offers the Mount Pleasant area a variety of treats including premium loose leaf organic craft teas, coffee, and pastries made from scratch.

Located at 2042 West 4 Avenue, this spot has taken the former digs of Mission and transformed the space to have the same charm as the owners’ other stellar spot, AnnaLena.

Saku Japanese restaurant is located at 1773 Robson Street (the former digs of ramen shop Me-no Kura) and it serves up dishes like katsu curry, two deep-fried ebis, and of course, drool-worthy panko-crusted pork cutlets.

Win Win Chick-N
We can’t seem to get enough fried chicken these days, so it’s a good thing Metro Vancouver just got another place to get some deep-fried crispy, salty, and meaty fall-off-the-bone goodness. Win Win Chick-N opened recently in Richmond and people are loving their fried chicken and Filipino style pasta.

White Lounge + Kitchen
White Lounge is a new 160-seat restaurant located at 1257 Hamilton Street, the former home of 21 Nautical Miles. Located right across from neighbourhood staples like Rodney’s and La Pentola, this spot is in a prime position to become a busy space now that it’s open.

The Leisure Center first opened its doors in fall 2017, but the store’s cafe just opened for business. The Leisure Center Café is located inside the 950 Homer Street design and luxury retail store, and it’s pretty damn beautiful if you ask us.

Meinhardt Ambleside
Located in the Grosvenor Ambleside development (1350 Marine Drive, West Vancouver), Meinhardt Fine Foods opened their first ‘New York Bodega-style grocery store’ on July 1. This is the brand’s first North Vancouver location but third store in BC.

Vancouver just got a new modern Vietnamese sandwich shop. Located at 1198 Kingsway (the former spot of Tung Hing Bakery), Bean Banh Mi is now officially open from 10 am to 6 pm seven days a week.

Shun Fa Noodle House
Shun Fa Noodle House opened on July 9, and they have a noodle combo with several choices of soups, noodles, and toppings, along with drinks and desserts. Other dishes include steamed rice bowls, congee, and grilled meat, and they also make housemade tofu pudding.

Bao Down UBC
As of July 3, Bao Down UBC, located along University Boulevard, joined several other notable local purveyors that were part of this highly-anticipated new stretch of eateries added to the campus in the U Boulevard neighbourhood. These spots include Rain or Shine and Joe Pizza to name a few.

Farm To Table – Yaletown
Highly-anticipated local gourmet food market Farm To Table is almost ready to officially open its doors in Yaletown. Located at 1312 Richards Street, Farm To Table soft-launched last week but has announced Saturday, July 21 will be the first day of operations for the gourmet grocer.

Francesco’s Ristorante
Francesco’s Ristorante, formally Don Francesco’s Ristorante, quietly shuttered in 2017 to the dismay of patrons across the city. Francesco’s is officially gearing up to reopen at 909 Cordova Street, the current location of soon-to-be-closed Hapa Izakaya Coal Harbour.

Elephant Garden Creamery
It’s been a long wait, but highly-anticipated Vancouver ice cream spot Elephant Garden Creamery just revealed the address for its first brick and mortar location via Instagram. The new sweet spot will be going in at 2080 Commercial Drive, just steps away from Sushi Ville, the Tangent Cafe, and a Prado Cafe location too.
Moderne Burger/Burgerette
Now, just over two months after closing at their OG spot, the eatery has announced they’ll be reopening at a new location in late summer, and it will house two concepts. Patrons will soon find Moderne Burger’s epic shakes and eats at 865 West Broadway, but they’ll also find something new: Burgerette, a “slightly smaller” version of Moderne Burger.

Seorae Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ king Seorae is opening its very first North American location in Metro Vancouver this summer.

Ramen Raijin – West Broadway
The new eatery, Ramen Raijin, will be opening at 401 West Broadway in the former home of Menya Ramen. Menya was a long-time fixture in Mount Pleasant and it closed on May 31 after their chef and owner decided to retire.

Tasty Indian Bistro – Yaletown
A member of the Tasty team told Daily Hive that the new location will be in Yaletown, across from Rodney’s Oyster House on Hamilton Street. The space is currently under renovations, but we’re told it will feature seating for approximately 130 people including a heated/retracting patio.

Dosa & Curry on Davie
A new dosa and curry spot is opening at 1188 Davie Street. Aptly named Dosa & Curry on Davie, the Indo Chinese fusion eatery is ‘opening soon’ in the West End and it promises South and East Indian grub.

Mumbai Local promises authentic Indian street food to Canadians when it opens “soon” at 123 Davie Street. Claiming to be the first and “only Canadian spot specializing in Mumbai street food,” the menu here will boast mealtime dabbas, vada-pav dabelis, pav bhaji, jalebis, and golgappas to name a few.

Horn Ok Please is opening soon at 1162 Denman Street (formerly Falafel & Friends), and the menu will feature a variety of kathi rolls like butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb seekh, panner, and mixed veggie, along with several kinds of curry.
