Vancouver restaurant offering 14+ varieties of onigiri opens new location

Vancouver fell in love with Onigiri Ya, a grab-and-go onigiri concept that opened its doors last year. Now, the spot has expanded and is offering a dine-in experience at one of its sister restaurants.
Calling itself Onigiri Ya Live, this new location is operating inside Maruhachi Gaiden.
“Onigiri Ya Live offers freshly prepared onigiri for dine-in customers, enhancing your dining experience with authentic Japanese flavours. This differs from our Broadway location’s grab-and-go concept,” said the onigiri spot.
You’ll find unique flavours at this spot that you won’t find at its grab-and-go concept, one of which is the seared cheese onigiri, an ooey-gooey creation with whatever filling you desire.

Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy its tasty onigiri alongside Maruhachi signature ramen and tsuke-men.

For those unfamiliar, Onigiri Ya started as a grab-and-go concept featuring a variety of tasty onigiri starting at just $1.99. It opened in August 2024 and operated alongside Menya Juémon in the same space until a month later when Onigiri Ya took over the space entirely.
