Prime Minister Mark Carney has had a packed schedule during his recent visit to British Columbia, but he took a time out to meet with the president of the Philippines at one of Vancouver’s most popular fast-food stops.
Jollibee Canada shared photos of Carney along with Ferdinand Marcos Jr., president of the Republic of the Philippines, at the flagship Granville location on Thursday, July 2.
Carney was also in town for some major announcements, including unveiling the Canada-British Columbia Cooperative Prosperity Agreement alongside Premier David Eby.

“Honored to welcome Philippine President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney!”
Jollibee is the largest fast-food chain brand in the Philippines, operating a network of more than 1,700 stores around the world.
Jollibee’s Granville location was its first in B.C., and opened in 2022 to a massive crowd of 5,000 diners waiting to try out the menu of Jolly Crispy Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and hot-dog-studded Jolly Spaghetti.

It’s been a busy few days of federal government announcements that impact British Columbians.
Embedded in a broad joint economic and infrastructure investment strategy for British Columbia by the provincial and federal governments, it was announced that the Government of Canada will provide up to $3 billion in direct funding to build the new replacement George Massey Tunnel in Metro Vancouver.
The Government of Canada also announced nearly $26 million in federal funding to replace most of the existing landmark White Rock Pier with brand-new structural segments.

Canada’s prime minister is often seen dining in local restaurants during his stops in Metro Vancouver.
Earlier this year, he dropped into a Burnaby White Spot to watch the Canadian women’s hockey team take on the United States in the gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Carney also recently celebrated Lunar New Year at a much-loved Richmond restaurant.
“Stopped by the Continental Seafood Restaurant, a local staple here in Richmond, to celebrate Lunar New Year with the community,” wrote Carney on Instagram with a video of him visiting the restaurant.
In the video, Carney is seen handing out red envelopes to members of the community. He also remarked on how great the space looked and asked if customers had already eaten.
