No-tip Vancouver restaurant to close by end of month

Murmur, one of Vancouver’s most loved tucked-away restaurants, has announced it will be closing its doors at the end of November.
“This has not been an easy decision, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us, dined with us, celebrated special occasions with us, and made Murmur a part of their lives. It has truly meant more to us than we can put into words,” wrote the restaurant on its Instagram.

When it first opened, Murmur operated as a cafe during the day and served a prix fixe tasting menu at night. The restaurant has since evolved to drop the cafe offering to focus solely on the dinner offerings. Murmur was also notably a no-tip restaurant.
“Itās been an incredible journey full of ups and downs, and we cannot begin [to] express how much love we have for this space, our staff who put in countless hours of hard work into making it what it is, and the guests who make it all worth it,” added the restaurant.

Many took to the comments sharing how much they’d miss the restaurant.
“Iām so sorry to hear this. We have loved the meals weāve had here and the lovely atmosphere. A unique and special venue that will be missed,” wrote one person.
“This hurts, as I came by to this restaurant on a whim and fully enjoyed the food and the way how each [ingredient was] chosen, not just for quality but where they were from. It was so new, so playful, and so creative without the pompousness,” added another.
“I’m sad to hear this, man. Your food is amazeballs. Sending all the love,” shared a third.
Murmur’s final day of operation will be Nov. 29.
