Beloved B.C. bakeries team up to help children with life-threatening conditions

For the eighth year in a row, folks in B.C. have the chance to make a difference in the lives of children with life-threatening conditions while also enjoying a sweet treat.
Milk and Cookies for Canuck Place, a fundraiser presented by BC Dairy, is returning once again, starting Feb. 26.
Beloved local bakeries, including Purebread, Lee’s Donuts, Bak’d, Benanna Bakery, Cozy Bean Bakery, and more, are all teaming up to offer special treats and host in-store fundraisers to raise money to support Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Plus, B.C. dairy farmers are matching donations up to $30,000.
“At Canuck Place, a cookie is more than a snack. It’s a way to nurture, comfort, and connect,” said Denise Praill, CEO at Canuck Place. “Our cookies are famous for bringing joy to children and families. Thanks to the kind generosity of BC Dairy and all our supporters, Milk & Cookies for Canuck Place helps ensure children and families facing unimaginable circumstances receive the support and loving care they need.”
“Supporting families when they need it most is at the heart of what B.C.’s dairy farmers believe in,” added Casey Pruim, board chair for BC Dairy. “Matching donations is one way we can amplify community generosity and help Canuck Place continue delivering exceptional care to children and families across the province.”
Schools and businesses are also welcome to take part in the fundraiser through student-coordinated events like read-a-thons or walk-a-thons, donation drives, and more. More information can be found on Canuck Place’s website. For individuals looking to support, it’s as easy as buying a sweet treat from one of the participating vendors.
