Vancouver donut shop "heartbroken" over unavoidable closure

It’s a rough time for donut fans in Vancouver. On the heels of the devastating news of Cartems closing up shop, we’ve just learned that another sweet spot is shuttering: Mello.
The popular brioche donut maker operates two locations in Vancouver’s Chinatown and on Arbutus Street, and the latter will be closing this weekend.
In an Instagram post shared Tuesday morning, the business broke down its reasoning for the not-so-sweet move, citing the upcoming redevelopment of its building as the cause.

Despite Mello wanting to continue operating at its 4635 Arbutus Street location, the team shared that the closure was an “unavoidable situation” and that they “are truly heartbroken and saddened by it.”
The donut store launched this second location in the summer of 2022. By then, it was already widely known and well-loved for its delightful, pillowy-soft sweet fried treats.
Mello Arbutus will see its last day of business on February 17, so be sure to pop by and say your goodbyes. The brand’s Chinatown location will continue to operate, and Mello also shared good news is coming soon, so stay tuned for that!
