Vancouver bar known for cheap drinks is closing its doors forever

The list of Vancouver restaurant closures unfortunately continues to grow, with popular arcade bar The Den announcing that it will soon close for good.
Located at 1348 Robson Street inside the Barclay Hotel, The Den is a cozy spot to play arcade cabinets like Golden Tee, pinball, skee ball, and more while you enjoy a drink with friends.
Guests of the arcade also enjoy cheap happy hours every day from 4 to 6 pm and retro video game systems set up for multiplayer action.
The Den published the announcement on Instagram over the weekend, stating that it will be ceasing operations by the end of the month.

“It is with a sad, heavy heart that we bring this news to you all,” posted The Den to its followers. “We will be closing our doors forever on February 28. With all that has happened with the building, they are being forced to do renovations beginning March 1, and we will not be returning when that is finished.
“Two dates to mark down. First, our games will be removed before the 28th, so we will have a big games night on Saturday, February 22. Second, the 28th is the last night, so come down and help us celebrate 7+ years of memories.”

The Den
Fans on social media thanked The Den for all of the memories and wished them the best in their next ventures.
“We are going to miss this place and all the wonderful staff,” said one commenter.
“We kept coming back because the staff made us feel at home,” added another. “I want to point out that I had the high score on Donkey Kong before it was removed, and also that we played so much Wheel of Fortune that we memorized the questions. Good luck all!”

The Den
“I met my now wife at your bar, thanks for being a great place,” said another fan.
The Den isn’t the only arcade and bar to have closed its doors recently in Vancouver. Last fall, Kitsilano staple Glitch Bar closed its doors due to rent rates in the neighbourhood being unsustainable, though it is on the lookout for a new location.
