Check out this IG-worthy brunch with a Japanese twist in Kitsilano
Mak N Ming has been a critical darling since they opened in late 2016, and they’ve even made their way onto the longlist of the contenders for enRoute’s Best New Restaurants in Canada this year. Now the French-Japanese spot is serving up a beautiful brunch menu, and you’re going to want to get this in your belly, and on your Instagram.
It’s a trim menu, available Sundays only, but it covers the bases from a Classic breakfast plate (2 free range sunny side up eggs, bacon strips, sausages, homefries, fresh greens, sourdough toast) to the must-have avo toast (they even call it #AVOCADOTOAST). Hashtag NAILED IT!
They work their Japanese flair into some dishes, like the Ono Brunch Bowl, which is made with smoked wild salmon, asparagus, onsen egg, organic quinoa, fresh greens, and miso-mustard dressing, or the Okonomi Hash, which is comprised of a duo of sunny side up eggs served with potato-edamame-cabbage hash, nori, mayo, bulldog sauce, and bonito flakes.
Brunch at Mak N Ming might not go all the way to chicken and waffles, but they do have panko-crusted chicken strips with quinoa, greens, and an onsen egg. And if you need a little kiss of something sweet, they make Challah french toast with coconut, blueberry compote, honeycomb, and whipped cream–some serious next-level stuff here.
