Fans camp out 12 hours ahead of Vancouver's first Krispy Kreme opening
After drawing major lines during its free donut giveaway on Monday, eager fans lined up bright and early to be among the first to visit Krispy Kreme’s first Vancouver location ā some who had been braving the cold and rain since the night before.
“We were here at 11 p.m., so we weren’t the first,” said a duo that Dished caught on their way out. “We were ninth and 10th in line, but the first guy was here at 7 p.m.”
In fact, the duo added that they had been to the opening of Krispy Kreme’s Delta location back in 2004. Before that location opened, Vancouverites wanting the beloved donuts would have to travel across the border.
“It was like early iPhones when you camp out,” they said in reference to the Delta opening. “We got on the news and stuff, and it became kind of a funny story we’ve been telling for 20 years.”

But nostalgia wasn’t the only incentive for folks wanting to line up. Krispy Kreme was giving the first 12 people in line a Golden Ticket, which is redeemable for a free dozen donuts every month for a year.
There were around 50 people in line when we showed up at 7 a.m., which is nothing compared to the lines we’ve seen for %Arabica Richmond or the multi-block line for Vancouver’s Hello Kitty Cafe.

In regards to the new location, Krispy Kreme shared that the cafe will receive fresh donuts from Krispy Kreme Delta twice a day.
“Guests can expect the full lineup of signature doughnuts, specialty coffees, and seasonal offerings that fans across Canada already know and love,” a representative from Krispy Kreme shared.
