Prime minister-loved Ukrainian restaurant announces new Metro Vancouver location

Looking for Ukrainian food in and around Vancouver? Kozak tends to be the first that comes to mind. The local mini-chain has locations in New West, Langley, Gastown, and East Vancouver, and it’s now preparing to expand even further with a new location coming to Metro Vancouver.
“North Vancouver, you asked, we delivered! We’re coming for you!!! Opening soon (and we mean really soon), and we honestly can’t wait to be part of your neighbourhood,” wrote Kozak.
The new location will be in Lower Lonsdale, just a quick walk from the Seabus.

Kozak is best known for its European cuisine, including its pierogies and cabbage rolls, alongside fresh-baked goods like bread and pastries. You can also find coffee and other beverages here.
The eatery is so loved that last year, Prime Minister Mark Carney even stopped by for a visit to its New Westminster location.
“Kozak Ukrainian Eatery is more than a successful small business — it’s a pillar of the community here in New Westminster. Thanks to the staff for the warm welcome, and the pastries for the road,” wrote Carney following his visit.
Kozak also shared photos of Carney’s visit in a story on its Instagram page, thanking the prime minister for the visit.

This isn’t the first time a prime minister visited Kozak, but the last time wasn’t at the New West cafe. In 2022, Justin Trudeau visited the Vancouver location on Victoria Drive.
Trudeau said at the time, “I stopped by earlier to pick up some treats, to thank them and their team for their efforts, and to let them all know that Canada stands with Ukraine. Our support remains steadfast.”
An exact opening date for Kozak’s North Vancouver location has yet to be announced.
