Joining the list of new Vancouver grocery stores, Fresh St. Market softly opened its latest location on Dec. 12 in Kitsilano.

“This new store will feature our largest hot bar yet and serve as a one-stop destination for everything from locally sourced fresh produce and Certified Angus Beef to freshly made sushi, our signature hot cookies, Peak donuts, a burrito bar, carvery, and so much more,” said Palle Knudsen, vice-president of retail operations at Fresh St. Market. “We’re not just opening another store — we’re creating a vibrant new food experience for the Kitsilano community.”

An official grand opening for the store is expected for 2026.

Costco opened its first Business Centre in B.C., and it comes in at a massive 146,000 sq. ft.

Costco Business Centre locations cater to businesses like restaurants, convenience stores, and offices. Here, you’ll find large commercial-grade appliances and similar items you won’t find at a regular Costco.

However, anyone with a regular Costco membership is permitted, and the business centre still has sections selling items you’d find at a regular Costco.

The business centre also has its own fleet of trucks and offers next-day delivery within a designated delivery zone.

Stong’s Market — Surrey

Local independent grocer Stong’s Market has recently expanded with a new Metro Vancouver grocery store in Surrey.

“Your new destination for fresh food, local flavour, and everyday convenience has arrived,” shared the grocer.

Located on the bottom floor of City Centre 4 tower in Surrey’s Health and Technology District, the new market offers a wide range of products, from locally sourced produce to chef-prepared meals.

“Known for supporting Canadian producers and local growers, Stong’s brings a curated selection of fresh, high-quality groceries right to the heart of Surrey,” shared the Health Tech District.

“From B.C.-grown produce to Canadian-made pantry favourites, this family-owned market continues its legacy of community care and local pride — a business that aligns with the Health & Technology District’s values of innovation, sustainability, and elevating communities.”

In addition to groceries, Stong’s Market Replenish Café is also on site, serving hand-crafted coffee, smoothies, and fresh-squeezed juices.

Folks in Burnaby will no longer be jealous of their neighbours in Vancouver and Coquitlam now that No Frills, the Canadian discount supermarket chain, shared online that it plans to open a new location in their neck of the woods.

“BURNABY, get ready!🔥🔥 Something HUGE is dropping soon, and we’re so excited to meet our new neighbours!” wrote No Frills on its Instagram.

No Frills is a discount supermarket chain owned by Loblaws that, as its name implies, cuts out extra services and “frills” to reduce costs. One of the ways the chain does this is by leaving items in the cardboard boxes rather than unpacking them.

It’s expected to open in early 2026.

“As Sungiven Foods Canada has been proudly serving Vancouver since 2019, the new One Park location represents the next step in our local growth,” said Alex Wang, head of operations at Sungiven Foods Canada.

Wang shared that at this new location, customers can expect a refreshed store layout and product mix, featuring more ready-to-eat and grab-and-go selections, while also offering its core fresh produce and other exclusive Sungiven private brand products.

T&T Supermarket is slated to be an anchor business at the newly developed Gilmore Place, occupying 55,000 sq. ft. of space — making it one of the chain’s larger stores, featuring the full range of the Asian supermarket’s assortment, including in-store prepared food.

T&T Supermarket had intended to open its Gilmore Place location this summer. However, upon inquiry, a spokesperson with the chain told Daily Hive Urbanized the opening is now delayed due to construction, with a new targeted date yet to be publicly established.

Costco Surrey

“Opening soon” might be a bit of an overstatement for Costco’s South Surrey location, but its anticipated location at 1891-1947 164th St., Surrey, is expected to open

Most of the lot will be developed into a surface vehicle parking lot — a total of 989 stalls — but a gas station is planned for the southwest corner of the property.
