A 17-year-old girl has been arrested and charged for stabbing another teen girl at a Surrey park over the weekend.

According to Surrey RCMP an “altercation between several youth” took place at Unwin Park on September 22 at approximately 6:20 pm.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at the park. A 16-year-old girl was transported to the hospital with non-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

Police have investigated the incident and identified a 17-year-old female suspect who has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Investigators say the incident was isolated and targeted as the victim and suspect know each other.

The involved parties are under the age of 18, and cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
