Metro Vancouver taproom to close its doors due to "conditions facing BC restaurants"

The restaurant industry in Metro Vancouver has been taking some serious hits, with multiple fan-favourite spots closing or planning to close soon. Now, the Langley-based Five Roads Brewing shared it will be closing its Richmond taproom location.

“It’s a tough decision that we’ve had to make especially with the many friends we’ve made and great times we’ve shared over the past few years in Richmond,” shared the brewery on Instagram.

The reason for the closure? Five Roads said it was due to both the conditions facing BC restaurants and breweries and the ups and downs that have “created a situation where, despite the best efforts of staff, working to create exceptional products and experiences is still unsustainable.”

“We are fortunate to have our home base brewing facility and tasting room in Langley where we are working on some new, exciting things to come in 2025,” said the brewery.

As for where the citizens of Richmond can get Five Roads brews, the brewery promises it’s committed to maintaining a presence in the Richmond area.

“Steveston and Richmond will always remain a part of Five Roads Brewing and we truly thank everyone for their support and friendship. Every single beer lover and beyond has made our tasting room feel like a space for family and friends, and we express our deepest gratitude for that.”

“We think you’ll still be able to enjoy Five Roads craft beers under the new ownership in Steveston, but we’ll leave that for the new owner to share more on soon,” added Five Roads.

Five Roads Brewing Steveston will close on January 31.
