Dolce Amore on Commercial Drive destroyed by fire early this morning
A gelato shop on Commercial Drive woke up to some pretty unpleasant news this morning.
Dolce Amore, located at 1588 Commercial Drive, shared on its Instagram account on Tuesday morning that a fire had occurred at the space, leading to some serious damage.
“They say; life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans,” the shop said, adding, “We can’t believe how accurate it is – we were talking and planning bigger and more exciting things for Dolce Amore yesterday, but today, we woke up with the most devastating news.”

The fire, which apparently started very early this morning, has no known cause yet but has led to some significant damage to the interior of the shop. A video shared by the gelato shop shows scorched walls and floors, along with what is likely significant water damage from sprinklers being activated.
One of Dolce Amore’s glass doors was also shattered as a result of the fire, but luckily no one was hurt.

“We will need some time off to heal and repair our one and only clubhouse,” Dolce Amore says.
Dolce Amore also operates a location in North Vancouver at 113 2nd Street West.
Hanai, the Hawaiian restaurant located in the same building as Dolce Amore, was also affected by the fire and will be closed for the foreseeable future as a result.
