'This totally sucks': Major breakfast chain closes Metro Vancouver location after 25 years

After a 25-year-long run, De Dutch announced earlier this month that it has closed the doors to its Port Coquitlam location.
“We have truly enjoyed being a part of your celebrations, Sunday brunches, and weekday coffees,” wrote De Dutch on its Instagram and Facebook. “We would like to thank you for your years of support and memories.”

De Dutch is best known for its signature pannekoeken, a Dutch pancake that is thinner and larger than its American counterpart. It also serves a selection of other breakfast favourites like French toast, eggs Benedict, and more.
Now that this Port Coquitlam location has closed, the next closest location is 20395 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge. At the end of 2023, De Dutch also closed the doors to its 35-year-old North Vancouver location.

Many took to the comments of the post to share how much they would miss the restaurant.
“So sad to hear this bad news! DeDutch has been our go to, for as long as I can remember,” wrote one person.
“You gotta be kidding me. I go there once a month. This totally sucks!” added another.
“Wow sad news!! Enjoyed many great breakfasts there with friends!!” added a third.
