We first told you about Coho Collective’s plans to open a new 10,000-sq-ft commissary kitchen and coffee shop in Strathcona back in the fall, and now, it’s almost ready to open.
Located at 1370 East Georgia Street, just off McLean Drive, the new state-of-the-art hub will serve as a prep/production space for more than 50 makers, and the cafe will offer up carefully crafted beverages and treats to patrons.
Coho currently operates two other commissary locations on Powell and in North Vancouver’s Creekside, but the new flagship space will be home to the brand’s first in-house cafe concept, Coho Coffee.
The 16-seat cafe will offer Elysian Coffee, pastries, and eventually grab-and-go lunch options and retail products made by Coho members.

The cafe also features a back room that can double as a private event/meeting space, complete with a 72-inch TV.
Coho Coffee can also be booked out for events during the evenings.
In the centre of the back area, there’s a stunning table made from recycled chopsticks. Created by local company ChopValue, the tabletop represents a day’s worth of disposable chopsticks used in Vancouver (around 100,000).
The rest of the tables in the space are made from chopsticks too, and you’ll spot some other recycled details scattered around the cafe in general, such as shelving.
Coho Cafe’s espresso bar has beverages like Cortados, Matcha Lattes, Americanos, Hot Cocoa, and more up for order, along with several varieties of tea from O5 Tea.
When it comes to the pastry cabinet, all the goodies are baked in-house by Coho Members Steve’s Gourmet Foods and Agrestal Bake Shop.
If you’re hankering for a croissant, pain au chocolat, chocolate chip cookie, or cranberry lemon muffin, you now have a new spot you need to hit up.
If there are any left when you stop in, we recommend trying the Kimchi Scone made with Salty Cabbage Kimchi. It’s vegan and it’s delicious — the perfect savoury/spicy offering to pair with a latte.
“Empowering small businesses to do what they love and scale up their operations is at the heart of why we started Coho,” says Andrew Barnes, CEO of Coho Collective, who opened the first commissary in 2018 with co-founder and COO Amrit Maharaj. “Shared kitchen spaces really help us foster an inclusive, creative, and innovative community in the food and beverage industry.”
Some existing Coho members you might know already include Salty Cabbage, Sriracha Revolver, BobAli Foods, and Kiki’s Kitchen.
Coho Coffee is soft open as of March 2. The grand opening is on March 9; after that, you’ll find it open Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The new cafe is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from local breweries Bomber and Off The Rail too, so its opening is the perfect excuse to embark on a coffee/beer brew tour in the ‘hood.
