Cat shot in the face by pellet gun in Richmond

A Richmond resident and her family is holding out hope that their cat Mittens will fully recover from his injuries, after someone shot him in the face with a pellet gun recently.

The incident took place this past Thursday, according to the cat’s owner Julia Buckingham and now a GoFundMe page has been set up to aid with the cat’s medical bills.

On the GoFundMe page, Buckingham writes that Mittens was “rushed to the vet,” after being shot, and she initially “didn’t think he was going to make it.”

However, she said, he is “a strong boy” and he is continuing to recover from his injuries.

The pellets, still stuck in the cat, “need to be removed,” and Buckingham is hopeful that enough money will be raised “to be able to do that in the future.”

Buckingham started the GoFundMe page because in her words, “we have a lot of members to our family and not a lot of money or support” for expenses like this. As such, she’s hoping the generosity of strangers will help Mittens pull through and recover.

“I love my cats more than life itself and it makes me sick knowing someone would intentionally do this to our sweet boy,” she writes.
