Prime Minister Mark Carney stops at much-loved Metro Vancouver restaurant

At the end of 2025, Prime Minister Mark Carney made stops at several popular Metro Vancouver spots, including the White Rock Pier and New Town Bakery. Now, Carney is making the rounds in B.C. once again, this time for Lunar New Year at a much-loved Richmond restaurant.
“Stopped by the Continental Seafood Restaurant, a local staple here in Richmond, to celebrate Lunar New Year with the community,” wrote Carney on Instagram with a video of him visiting the restaurant.
In the video, Carney is seen handing out red envelopes to members of the community. He also remarked on how great the space looked and asked if customers had already eaten.
“Thank you for having me here,” he said.

Continental Seafood Restaurant, located at 11700 Cambie Rd. in Richmond’s Cambie Plaza, is best known for its assortment of dim sum dishes like dumplings, steamed buns, rice rolls, and more.

“‘Have you already eaten? Yup, he knows the quintessential Chinese greeting,” commented one user.
“I’m upset I didn’t know he was in Richmond 😢 I would like to meet our prime minister 😭,” added another.
“Not the PM blowing up my favourite dim sum restaurant,” said a third.
