Prime Minister Mark Carney greets locals at 'iconic' White Rock Pier

Prime Minister Mark Carney was in Metro Vancouver recently, greeting folks at an iconic pier.
A post was shared on Carney’s social media pages, showing the Prime Minister at the White Rock Pier.
The post was captioned with information about local infrastructure across Canada. Carney was accompanied by MP for South Surrey-White Rock, Ernie Klassen.
“The White Rock Pier is an iconic B.C. destination and economic driver. MP Ernie Klassen and the community here have been working to restore and preserve it,” the Instagram post says.
“So, we’re stepping in and investing to revitalize the pier in Budget 2025 — with more local infrastructure projects across Canada that will build communities strong.”

Carney joked that he was going to contribute to fixing the pier himself with the help of Klassen.
“I learned from Ernie that the pier needs some work. We’re just going to take a look, we’re going to fix the pier. Ernie’s the engineer, I’m going to get a can of paint, and we’re going to get it done,” Carney quipped.
In response to the post, many chimed in with their own requests for areas of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley that needed attention.
Brad Vis, an Abbotsford MP, said, “Can you fix the pump stations in Abbotsford?”
Someone else commented, “Watching the s**t show in the United States, it’s so nice to watch a normal leader doing normal things.”
Carney has been making the rounds around the province, including a stop in Terrace, B.C., as part of Budget 2025: Canada Strong.
This isn’t the first time Carney has dropped by a popular Metro Vancouver spot. Earlier this year, Carney popped by Kozak Ukrainian Eatery in New West, calling the establishment a “pillar of the community here in New Westminster.”
