Come for the game, stay for the big cash prize.

For the second time in Canadian sports history, the 50/50 jackpot will hit $1 million next week.

Dubbed “Hollywood Night,” the next Vancouver Canucks home game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, November 27 will see someone win a minimum take-home prize of $500,000.

The estimated jackpot has been guaranteed by sponsor Ascend FS. 10 trips to LA will also be given away by Discover Los Angeles during the game.

50% of the jackpot will support the Canucks for Kids Fund, benefitting the Canucks Autism Network, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, as usual.

ā€œThis is an amazing opportunity for us to generate excitement, awareness and significant funds for charity,ā€ said Paolo Aquilini, president of the Canucks for Kids Fund. ā€œWe have a great opportunity for fans to participate in history with one lucky fan winning a life-changing prize. But more importantly, we have an unprecedented opportunity to help children and families across BC who need the support.ā€

The Canucks hope to break the Canadian sports record for the largest 50/50 jackpot, one which was set at Rogers Arena during the Sedins’ final home game on April 5. A Vancouver realtor walked home with half of the $1,014,555 million jackpot that night.

Jackpots this season have ranged from $57,170 to $242,125.

Since the Canucks’ season opener, fans living in British Columbia have been able to participate in the same raffle as people attending the game. Raffle tickets for the November 27 game are already on sale through Canucks.com.
