'The best chicken fingers I've ever had': Another celebrity raves about Cactus Club in Vancouver

During her most recent trip to Vancouver in December, Trisha Paytas made sure to do her fair share of dining around the city, stopping at much-loved restaurants like Kobe Japanese Steakhouse.
Among the many eateries she dined at, the internet personality, actress, and author decided to pit two Vancouver restaurants against each other to determine which one was better: Cactus Club and Dovetail.
Most are familiar with Cactus Club, the Canadian-owned chain that has locations all across North America (most notably being its recently opened Boston location, which is the brand’s first outpost in the U.S.).
As for Dovetail, the Yaletown restaurant opened at the end of 2023 and is known for its California-inspired share plates, pastas, and cocktails.
“[I’m] in Vancouver, Canada, we got Dovetail and Cactus Club and let’s see which one is better,” shared Paytas in a TikTok video, showing her order from both of the restaurants. “These are two of the most recommended spots.”
From Dovetail, Paytas ordered its popular vodka pasta and truffle fries, while from Cactus Club, she got spicy chicken and chicken strips (which have been a popular order among celebrities visiting the city). However, she did not pull a Drake and order a Peach Bellini to her hotel room.
Paytas also noted that comparing pasta and chicken is like comparing apples and oranges.

The first thing she tried was the chicken strips, which she was immediately a fan of.
After a moment of silence (broken up by the occasional “wow”), she finally said, “I don’t know if anything is going to be able to top this.”
Next, she moved on to Dovetail and the pasta.
“I love pasta, specifically vodka pasta,” said Paytas. “It looks good, but I don’t know.”
She also added that pasta doesn’t deliver as well as chicken fingers, and that she’d take that into account in her judging.
“This is so good, too,” she said. “I can’t stop eating it.”
Next, she went on to try the truffle fries from Dovetail.

“It looks so different than our truffle fries in the U.S., but that’s not saying anything because I do think Canada is maybe a little cooler than the U.S.,” said Paytas. “I’m not getting truffle. Not bad, not great.”
She then concluded her meal with the spicy chicken from Cactus Club, which she said she got without the pickles.
“It’s good, but these are the winners,” said Paytas in reference to the chicken strips. “These are the best chicken fingers I’ve ever had in my entire life.”
So at the end of the day, it sounds like Cactus Club is the winner out of the two restaurants, according to Paytas.
