Man charged with murder of Burnaby woman in Alberta

A man from Medicine Hat, Alberta has been charged in connection with the death of a Burnaby woman in that province, police have announced.

The announcement comes as part of an investigation which began when a woman was found dead at a residence in Bassano, Alberta on January 22,2019.

Bassano RCMP, Brooks RCMP, Brooks General Investigation Section, RCMP Major Crimes Unit North and Alberta Sheriff’s Investigative Support Unit were all involved in the investigation, which included an autopsy on the woman, conducted in Calgary on January 24.

Now, police have arrested 36-year-old Chase Leland Hehr and charged him with second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old June Rose.

Hehr has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on January 30, 2019.

Police said that as this matter is now before the courts, they will not be providing any further information.

Bassano is about a 12-hour drive from Burnaby, and about 1.5 hours from Medicine Hat.
