Vancouver police investigate after 69-year-old man killed in shooting

Vancouver Police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 69-year-old man.

According to VPD, the incident occurred on January 26. Just before midnight, police received several calls about a shooting near Fraser Street and 51 Avenue.

Officers arrived and found 69-year-old Zenen Cepeda Silva suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooter had already fled the scene.

Silva was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

It is believed that Silva was shot when he was walking towards a residence near Fraser and East 51st Avenue, according to police. VPD also say the incident is believed to be targeted but “there is no evidence to suggest that the public is at risk.”
