Premier John Horgan to address media as daily COVID-19 cases break records

Dec 2 2020, 4:56 pm

Premier John Horgan will take questions from the media on Wednesday afternoon as COVID-19 cases across the province remain high.

Yesterday, health officials announced 656 new test-positive coronavirus cases as well as 16 more deaths.

Record-high numbers were also recorded over the past weekend, which saw 2,364 new cases between Friday and Monday and 46 deaths.

Last week, following the cabinet swearing-in ceremony, Horgan stressed that he’s never opposed any guidance from BC Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, adding that his relationship with top health officials is based on collaboration and trust.

“I’ve never interfered. That’s not how [we] operate,” he said. “We come to conclusions based on the best advice we get.”

“We knew this [pandemic] was going to be gruelling,” he continued. “I’m very comfortable with the approach we’ve taken.”

Horgan will be addressing the media at 1:15 pm. The press conference can be viewed live on the Government of BC’s YouTube page, Facebook page, and Twitter.

BC health officials are also scheduled to give a live COVID-19 update at 3 pm, which can be streamed online.
