Another 656 new COVID-19 infections discovered in BC

The BC Centre for Disease Control’s COVID-19 dashboard reported 656 new daily infections Tuesday, bringing the total number of known infections in the province to 33,894.

Health officials usually release a written statement with new daily case data, but on Tuesday the dashboard was updated before the statement was released.

Broken down by health region, there were 140 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 408 in the Fraser Health region, 10 in the Island Health region, 0 in the Interior Health region, and 15 in the Northern Health region.

As it stands, there are 8,796 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

There are currently 336 individuals who are hospitalized with COVID-19, 76 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Sixteen more people have died of their infections, bringing BC’s death toll to 457.

A total of 23,774 people who tested positive have now recovered.
