Someone has been secretly hiding TTC tokens around the city for years (PHOTOS)
If you’ve ever noticed TTC tokens stuck to a mural or landmark in the city, you’ve actually stumbled upon a scavenger hunt that’s been running for years.
Dorota Pankowska, first started hiding the tokens back in 2016, and she has since gone on to hide well over 100 tokens throughout the city.

“I’ve been quietly sticking TTC tokens around Toronto for a few years for people to find, and I just reached 150 tokens,” Pankowska told Daily Hive.
Since tokens are on their way to be phased out, Pankowska said this is a great way to pay homage to them.
She added that she plans on continuing to hide them until they’re no longer accepted as fare.
Pankowska said she was inspired to start hiding tokens after she saw ‘Hidden Cash‘ trending on Twitter and she love the idea.
“Although I definitely do not have thousands of dollars lying around that I could go and hide (obviously, I live and rent in Toronto, haha) I thought that TTC tokens would be perfect to hide because they’re so tiny but still have significant value, and also represent Toronto itself,” she said.
Pankowska also shared that she created an Instagram account called Sticky Coins where she posts photos of a clue or the nearest intersection of where the coin is hidden.
As for where the tokens are hidden, she said it depends on where she is.
“Originally it was me and a few friends hiding these tokens while we explored the city but since things got busier it’s been mostly me, although I’m always open for more people to join in the fun.”
“I mostly like to put the tokens on street art because I appreciate local artists and how colourful this city is,” she added.
