Toronto expected to be hit with 10 cm of snow in the next 24 hours

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the City of Toronto.

And it’s not great.

Not only is the City expected to be hit with up to 10 cm of snow tonight and tomorrow morning, but combine that with rain showing up later tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday’s commute both to and from work sounds like the kind of thing nightmares are born from. Here is Environment Canada’s full statement:

Snow is expected to develop tonight over southwestern Ontario and move eastward to reach the Greater Toronto Area early Tuesday morning. Snowfall accumulations near 10 cm are likely before the snow changes to rain. Snow will change to rain late in the morning in southwestern Ontario, and late in the afternoon in the Greater Toronto Area.

There may be a significant impact to the Tuesday morning commute and possibly the afternoon one as well for regions where the change to rain occurs later.

Motorists should plan for extra time to reach their destination later tonight and Tuesday.

The weather system responsible is a Colorado low that will affect much of the province.

Make sure you’re prepared for this one, Toronto. We all remember what happened last time
