5 Toronto restaurants to support on this week's Takeout Day

Jun 10 2020, 8:37 pm

While the restaurant industry works to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances of recent days, every Wednesday has been named “Takeout Day.”

Just because we can’t visit our favourite restaurants in a regular fashion right now doesn’t mean we can’t continue to support them.

If you have a hankering for a no-cook meal and you’d like to show some love to a local eatery, consider placing an order through one of our picks for this week’s Takeout Day:

Roselle

A shining star on both King East and Dovercourt Road, this bakeshop serves delicate pastries that bridge the space between “mouthwatering” and “looks to pretty to eat.” These days, the shop is weekend running pop-ups on both the east and west side of towns, where unreal goodies including cake cups are available. That’s a personal cake in a cup, people! Plus pavlova, too. Order your sweets in advance to support them today.

Address: 108 Dovercourt Road; 362 King Street East

There’s never been a better time for comforting pasta. This beloved, carb-forward spot is serving their goods up curbside, so you can grab your grub and go. Offering “three fresh pastas daily, small plates, negronis and other manifestations of badassery,” you can fill up on the relatively-cheap. With the “2 can dine for $29 deal,” you select two of those pastas and get a kale caesar and fresh bread, for less than $30 (pre-tax and tip). Boom.

If the goods look familiar, that’s because they are. Aunty Lucy’s popped up on Ossington Avenue last year, for a one-day event where attendees could munch on burgers akin to those offered at In N Out. Now, you can get these fierce handhelds five days a week in Parkdale. In addition to burgs, the place serves up a wicked-looking grilled cheese, fried chicken bites, fries, and the option of ordering in combos to save a few bucks.

Address: 1346 Queen Street West
Ordering method: Online for pickup; delivery through Uber Eats or Door Dash
