Virtual market event offers chance to shop local artisanal goods

During the time of year that is usually filled with farmers’ markets, patio pop-ups, and other outdoor events, this season is a quieter one.

But that doesn’t mean you have to go without your favourite spring-and-summertime joys.

This June, you can channel that desire to support local, seasonal goods with a browse through the TorontoMarket.co virtual market.

Running from June 10 to 15, the market provides an online space to check out offerings from more than 40 of the city’s local bakers, makers, entrepreneurs, and artisans.

Designed to support local small-business owners, the website allows customers to sift through all of its offerings before finishing up the shopping experience at one convenient checkout.

Items will be available for pickup or delivery on June 19, which is — coincidentally — right ahead of Father’s Day. Fudge and fresh pasta for Dad, anyone?

Pickups will be available at 688 Richmond Street West, while delivery spans from Lakeshore to Finch and Dufferin to Leslie.

While, of course, nothing beats the vibe of strolling through a real-life market, the bright and beautiful product shots lining the pages of this virtual version are swoon-worthy. And on top of the aesthetic appeal of the experience, the online event offers the chance to support small businesses and discover local gems.

Some of the vendors on-site include Pasta Tucci’s freshly made pasta and sauces, Booyah’s decadent ice cream, Carla’s Cookie’s butter tarts, Station Cold Brew’s coffee, Albion Hill’s cured meats, Nerpy’s Jamaican hot sauce, and Parallel Brothers sesame butters and halva… and that’s just naming a few!

Have a look through all the offerings and allow yourself to be transported to a springtime artisanal market experience.
