From a horror film festival to a fall shopping party, here are your top Toronto events for October 11.

Toronto After Dark Film Festival 

What: Come and enjoy nine nights of all things horror, sci-fi, action, and cult at the 13th annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival. This year’s festival will feature new independent pieces from across North America, Europe and Asia, and big box office feature films.

When: October 11 to 19
Time: 7 pm to 12 am

Cannabis celebration at Yonge-Dundas Square

What: The federal legalization of cannabis is just under a week away and Up Cannabis, an Ontario-based licensed producer, is celebrating with a free event at Yonge-Dundas Square.  Highlights include a performance by Choir!Choir!Choir!, with a special tribute to Gord Downie featuring Tragically Hip band members Rob Baker and Johnny Fay. There will also be an installation called the “UPside Down House” which encourages a new perspective on cannabis.

Guys’ Night Out at the Hudson’s Bay

What: Guys’ Night Out returns to Hudson’s Bay for a night filled with exclusive savings, activations, music and light refreshments. Sponsors this year include Bay St. Bull, Yo Sox, Levi’s, DKNY, and John Lennon by English Laundry. Shoppers can also enjoy a special performance from Canadian band Birds of Bellwoods.

Happy Hour at Assembly Chef’s Hall – Cherry Street Bar-B-Que

What: Each month, Grocery Gateway partners with restaurants in Assembly Chef’s Hall for a unique dining event, and this month’s happy hour is with Cherry Street Bar-B-Que. Come and enjoy three courses created and introduced by the chef, drinks, an insider’s tour of Assembly and a gourmet gift to take home.

YYOGA Welcome hOMe Party

What: After renovating its space downtown, YYOGA is back and is throwing a reopening house party tonight. The popular Queens Street West studio will be hosting a transformative evening. Choose between a candlelit flow class led by Catherine Lavallee accompanied by a sound bath courtesy of Darren Austin Hall, OR a disco light YSculpt class led by Lisa McMurtrie accompanied by Toronto-born artist beats courtesy of DJ Steph Honey. And while there, finish off the evening enjoying live music courtesy of Shjaane Glover, snacks, refreshments, and a YYOGA goodie bag.
