While the cost of a detached home in Toronto is now around $1 million, there are some affordable options around the city.

Between the popularity of condos and the high demand of detached houses, Canadian real estate website and brokerage Zoocasa priced out affordable townhouse options around Toronto to meet the needs of prospective buyers who need a middle ground.

The average cost for townhouses in Toronto was just over $500k in 2016, according to Zoocasa.

The most affordable neighbourhoods to buy a townhouse include South Steeles, where the average for a townhouse was around $300k in 2016, and Downsview which was roughly around the same cost.

Meanwhile, some of the most expensive townhomes in Toronto are in The Beaches and Leslieville, where prices there are over $600 k.

Zoocasa

While detached houses sold for close to $64,000 over their asking price last year, Zoocasa compares that to the $17,000 for townhouses.

Further to the cost breakdown, Zoocasa mapped out the most affordable neighbourhoods for townhouses in Toronto.
