A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and is facing sexual assault charges after he sexually assaulted a woman on board a TTC subway train earlier this month.

According to police, on Tuesday, February 12, around 10:30 am, a 21-year-old woman was travelling westbound on a subway train when a male boarded the same train at Woodbine Subway Station.

Police say the man sat beside the woman and then committed an indecent act by grabbing her and sexually assaulting her.

The suspect then fled on foot once the train came to a stop at Greenwood Subway station.

Following the incident, surveillance footage of the suspect was released to the public and police described the suspect as being in his late teens to early 20s.

On Wednesday, police said they had successfully located and arrested the male in connection to the assault.

However, his photos have been removed from previous news releases and can no longer be published due to his age, in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say on Thursday, February 14, the 15-year-old boy was arrested and has been charged with sexual assault.

Police are reminding the public assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact. It includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex and penetration.
