We’ve made it to the halfway point of the workweek, Montreal. As you set your sails towards the weekend, here are five eventful things to check out in the city today, November 14, to help you get there.

Salon du livre de Montréal

The Salon du livre is a chance to meet your favourite local authors, discover new ones, and attend literary events, round-table discussions, debates and public readings.

Guests of honour to this year’s festival includes Samuel Champagne, Heather O’Neill, Bernard Werber, Josephine Bacon and Martine Delvaux.

Continuum and aurōrae

Continuum and aurōrae are two shows at Montreal’s Planetarium. From the infinitely small to the infinitely large, Continuum is a visual arts show that is a connection between humankind and the universe while Aurōra explains and displays the electrifying aurora borealis.

Derek Seguin – Bishop and Gags

The Mile End comedy show returns to the cozy Bishop and Bagg tonight (their pun alone should be enough to entice you). Grab some of their signature gin cocktails and take in some laughs.

Tonight’s edition is hosted by the very funny Kris Dulgar and is headlined by Quebec’s gem, Derek Seguin, known from the Nasty Show, CBC’s The Debaters, and winner of Canada’s Next Top Comic.

McKibbin’s Irish Pub Hooley Night

McKibbin’s Irish Pub hosts their “Hooley Night” tonight on their third-floor dance club. Ladies pay $10 at the door, gentlemen pay $25 and then it’s an open bar, all you can drink. That includes  Moosehead beer, vodka, gin, rum, rye and whiskey as part of the special.

There’s a dance floor, DJ and a whole lot of people, lines form pretty quickly so get there good and early.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Trivia Night

For fans desperately waiting for the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, you can get your fix by hitting up some BNN trivia.

Teams of no more than six contestants are asked to compete for prizes, drinks and laughs.

All proceeds go towards the Trek for Teens Foundation which raises funds and awareness for homeless youth in Montreal.
