Bell executive Michael Melling is taking a leave from his role at Bell Media, following the dismissal of Lisa LaFlamme.
Daily Hive has learned that a memo was sent to CTV National staff stating that Melling is taking a leave and Richard Gray — the Regional General Manager, Radio/TV, Eastern Region at Bell Media — will be stepping in.
Lisa LaFlamme announced news of her dismissal from CTV News less than two weeks ago on August 15. Since then, there has been blowback on a near daily basis directed towards the media corporation.
Daily Hive has also obtained a copy of the memo which states that Melling is going to be replaced by Richard Gray, who is the Regional General Manager for the eastern region with Bell Media. His responsibilities will include all news, information and current events programming, including CTV News.
According to the internal memo to staff, Melling’s decision to take a leave “reflects our shared desire to support the newsroom and do what’s best to help the team move past the current circumstances.”
The memo also states that Melling is taking leave to spend time with his family.
