Disney announced a number of new changes to its global theme park properties over the weekend, during its bi-annual D23 fan festival.

The new land, to be constructed behind the existing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!’ ride, will have an Avengers theme of recruiting the next generation of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superheroes.

One of the feature attractions will be the ‘Worldwide Engineering Brigade’, also known as ‘WEB’, for a new Spider-Man experience. Guests on the ride will board a ‘Web Slinger’ vehicle, allowing them to sling webs just like Spidey.

Another attraction comes straight from the MCU’s Ant-Man will be the ‘Pym Test Kitchen’, where guests will use pym particles to grow and shrink anything.

But the most prominent structure in this new land will be a replica of the Avengers Headquarters, which will be constructed in a later phase of the campus.

This building will become the future entrance to a new ride, where you will board a Quinjet and fly alongside the superheroes in an adventure to Wakanda and beyond to save the world against powerful villains. An all-new innovative ride system is being developed for this ride experience.

Opening in 2020, ‘Avengers Campus’ at Disney California Adventure is one of three Avengers-themed lands coming to Disney theme parks around the world; similar Avengers-themed lands will also be constructed at Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris.

Other additions to Disneyland Resort include the spring 2020 debut of the new ‘Magic Happens’ daytime parade at Disneyland Park, featuring Mickey Mouse and his pals, as well as characters from classic Disney stories and recent Pixar films, Coco and Moana.

And just in time for The Walt Disney Company’s centennial in 2023, the new ‘Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway’ ride in the Mickey’s Toontown land at Disneyland will open in 2022. It is Disney’s first major Mickey-themed ride-through attraction, with guests boarding a train that transforms the cartoon world into an immersive multi-dimension experience.

Over the weekend, Disney also announced a significant makeover and transformation of its Epcot theme park at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
