Downtown Edmonton restaurant announces closure after less than a year

Zymo is yet another restaurant that has closed this month in downtown Edmonton, adding, once again, to the long list of restaurants that have already shut their doors.

The restaurant closed down permanently this week, alongside many other downtown Edmonton restaurants like Wilfred’s, Bündok, and many more spots in the area. This spot opened in late 2025, with the team serving up Ukrainian cuisine after coming to Canada following the war.

Dalla Tavola Zenari was the restaurant that had previously occupied the same space as Zymo, having lasted around 40 years. Zymo, however, only lasted less than a year.

“Our mission was simple: to show you a modern Ukraine and to give Ukrainians a place that felt like home. Judging by your messages and your stories, you felt exactly that. And that means we accomplished what we set out to do,” says the team on Instagram.

Although they didn’t last a year, the impact will definitely be felt by the community. Outpours of love and gratitude are flooding their Instagram comments, and it’s clear this spot made its mark.

“From the very first moment we walked into this beautiful building, we fell in love with it. We still believe it has incredible potential, just as we believe in Downtown Edmonton and in this amazing city. We truly hope this space will continue to bring people together and become home to another great story,” the team adds.

“We loved this project with all our hearts, and we truly believed in it,” finishes the team. “So this isn’t goodbye. It’s simply see you later.”
