Bazaar is the newest addition to Edmonton after a wave of closures, and it’s definitely something the city is excited to see.
Following ZYMO‘s closure, there’s space left open for more Ukrainian food in the Edmonton area, and Bazaar is here to deliver. The team behind this concept is taking modern Ukrainian and Eastern European cuisine and serving it through a fresh street food lens.
“Three years ago, we came to Canada. Since then, we’ve been bringing people together through events, creating places where our community could meet, celebrate, and feel at home,” says the team behind Bazaar on Instagram.
With culture and community in mind, they’ve successfully created a space that’s vibrant in both its food and energy.

Currently, the establishment is in its soft-opening phase, having opened its doors officially on July 1. This means its hours are 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the dishes on the menu include Ukrainian Style Shawarma, Cheese Cheburek, Ukrainian Style Hot Dog, Sour Cherry Varenyky, and many more delicious eats.
Shawarma isn’t the typical type of thing you see on a Ukrainian menu. The team actually takes a little bit of time to talk about it on Instagram.
“While shawarma isn’t a traditional Ukrainian dish, it has become one of the country’s favorite street foods over the past decade. We took a familiar classic and gave it our own Ukrainian twist,” reads the post.
Each week, the team is taking time to listen to feedback from guests. This one is no different, with new menu items coming in to join the fray.
Pork Shashlyk, Chicken and Turkey Pelmeni, along with Shrimp Shawarma, join the contenders on the eats side. Vanilla and Raspberry Milkshakes are the two to join the team of delicious drinks this week. Keep an eye out for any menu changes on the team’s social media, as it’s subject to change during this soft-opening phase.
While the grand opening is still in the works, this spot is shaping up to be a Whyte Avenue favourite. Old Strathcona is lucky to have this new restaurant in the area, and this is definitely going to be a spot we’re checking out soon.
We’ll keep you updated with all the grand opening details, so stay tuned for more.
