New Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane spotted playing beer league hockey

Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane is back playing beer league once again in anticipation of the 2025-26 season.

Kane, who was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks from the Edmonton Oilers in a trade earlier this offseason, is no stranger to beer league action. While he didn’t appear to suit up last summer due to injury, he was spotted playing in multiple games in 2023.

Despite the recent trade, Kane was suiting up in a league in Edmonton once again. The only difference this time was that, while still rocking Oilers gloves, he had Canucks pant shells on.

As was the case two years ago, he continued to play under the name Fa Afo. It’s a tribute to his own saying that he used following a playoff game versus the Vegas Golden Knights, where he got the better of Keegan Kolesar in a scrum.

“When ya wanna f*ck around, sometimes ya gotta find out,” Kane told reporters at the time.

Kane, who was donning No. 25 in the game, wound up finishing with two goals and four points in what was an 8-3 win for the Broadstreet Bullies, the same team which he suited up for numerous games with two summers ago.

The fact that Kane is out playing beer league is a positive sign for Canucks fans, as it indicates he’s likely fully healthy and ready to go for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old was forced to miss the entire 2024-25 campaign due to injury, but was able to return for the playoffs and score six goals and 12 points in 21 outings.
