Wedding bells will soon be ringing for Edmonton Oilers defenceman Spencer Stastney.

Shortly after his Oilers teammates secured a massive 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon, Stastney’s girlfriend, Matty Stark, revealed on social media that the couple had gotten engaged. It is not known how long the two have been together before deciding to tie the knot.

The 26-year-old Stastney must have acted quickly after the victory, as Stark posted photos of the moment on her Instagram not long after the game.

“Did a thing,” Stark captioned the post.

Eddie, the couple’s dog, also made an appearance in the announcement photos. There has been no indication of when the wedding is expected to take place.

Stastney pulled out all the stops to make the moment special for both of them, as he presented Stark with a beautiful emerald-cut engagement ring. It is certainly a sight to behold, and a fitting ring for the occasion.

Surprisingly, Stastney is the first Oilers player to get engaged this season after a few busy years in the wedding department for the team. Captain Connor McDavid tied the knot with his wife Lauren back in the summer of 2024, while Leon Draisaitl followed suit this past summer with a wedding of his own.

Oilers forward Kasperi Kapanen also got married this past summer, and the couple welcomed their first child back in February.

Stastney is one of the newer members of the Oilers organization, having been acquired from the Nashville Predators in a trade back in December. He has been a steady bottom-four presence for Edmonton, having appeared in 36 games with the club, and the hope is that he can be an important piece for an upcoming playoff run.
