The Edmonton Oilers are set to reveal a new jersey over the next few weeks, and we’ve gotten a few hints on what it’ll look like.
Fanatics, the NHL’s current jersey manufacturer, confirmed on social media on Wednesday morning that they will be embarking on a league-wide jersey initiative this upcoming season. All 32 NHL teams will introduce a new jersey as part of the Hometown Remix collection.
In a statement with the NHL, Fanatics revealed the goal is to design jerseys that “uniquely and authentically celebrate the fans, city, and local culture of each team.” In essence, it sounds like the NHL has taken inspiration from the NBA’s City Edition line and the MLB’s City Connect program.
Something new is coming to all 32 NHL cities this season. 👀

So, what does that entail for the Oilers? A few things have leaked out from various jersey insiders over the past couple of months, which should give Edmonton fans a good idea of what to expect when the jersey is eventually unveiled.
Here is everything we know about what the Oilers Hometown Remix jersey will look like…
What colour will it be?
The very first thing we learnt about this new Oilers uniform is the primary colour, which is expected to be black.
Both Sports 1440’s Tom Gazzola confirmed the black base colour all the way back in January, and that was confirmed to be true by notable NHL jersey insider Chris Smith with Icethetics in May.
Smith also mentioned that there is a chance that the jersey could also incorporate bright orange accents as well, similar to Edmonton’s previous blue and orange alternate jersey worn between 2019 and 2024.
DJ Bean with the What Chaos! podcast also reported that the jersey will incorporate grey accents as well. This would make it a very dark jersey, giving the orange secondary colour the potential to really pop.
This would also be the first black Oilers jersey in franchise history.
What design will be used?
Gazzola made waves last month by revealing that he was told that the Oilers Hometown Remix uniform would have a distinct “Flint Tropics” vibe, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.
Daily Hive reached out to Gazzola, and he relayed that the “Flint Tropics” idea appears to have been a red herring, and it will not be a feature of the new jersey. It remains unclear whether or not his assertion that the words “Oil Country” appearing on the main crest somewhere is also false.
Instead, the latest on the jersey’s design comes from Bean once again, who attempted to draw what the uniform will look like and shared it on social media last month. He alleges to have seen first-hand what the new Edmonton jersey will look like.

The Oilers logo appears black on this rendering, with orange and grey accents to match the rest of the jersey.
That design is reminiscent of the Team North America jersey that McDavid wore during the 2015 World Cup of Hockey. The black base with orange and grey accents is close to what that team wore in the international tournament.
In the replies to that post, Bean revealed that the shoulder patch in his drawing was a recoloured version of the same patch used on the latest Oilers third jersey, revealed last year.

When will it be revealed?
There has been no official release date set for any of the Hometown Remix jerseys, and the Oilers edition is no exception.
Edmonton revealed last year’s new alternate jersey at the team’s annual Fan Day on Sept. 20, which was just a day before the Oilers opened up their preseason schedule. If they opted to do the same for this new uniform, that would put a reveal date around the Sept. 18 mark.
However, considering this is likely to be a league-wide release rather than a team release, that could change. The joint statement between the NHL and Fanatics about the Hometown Remix program said that more information would be revealed shortly after the upcoming season starts.
That suggests a reveal could come sometime after the NHL schedule gets underway on Sept. 29, which also coincides with the Oilers’ home opener against the Vancouver Canucks.
