Edmonton Oilers reveal theme night schedule and it looks a bit different

There will be no shortage of special theme nights for Edmonton Oilers fans this upcoming season.

The NHL released its full schedule for the 2026-27 season last month, but the Oilers opted to drop their full promotional schedule on Wednesday morning. There will be a total of 13 special nights hosted at Rogers Place during the upcoming season, which is slightly less than the 16 they hosted last season.

Most of these nights are annual themes that are returning from last season, but there are a few notable additions and subtractions that fans will notice.

Here is the Oilers’ full promotional schedule for the 2026-27 season:

  • Sept. 29 vs. Vancouver Canucks: Home Opener
  • Oct. 22 vs. Carolina Hurricanes: Indigenous Celebration
  • Nov. 7 vs. Vancouver Canucks: Hockey Fights Cancer
  • Nov. 11 vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Remembrance Day
  • Jan. 9 vs. New York Islanders: Oilers Next Gen
  • Jan. 13 vs. San Jose Sharks: Ukrainian Heritage
  • Jan. 17 vs. Winnipeg Jets: Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation
  • Feb. 3 vs. Vegas Golden Knights: Black Excellence
  • Feb. 12 vs. St. Louis Blues: Lunar New Year
  • Feb. 22 vs. Ottawa Senators: Women in Sport
  • March 9 vs. LA Kings: Celebrating Pride
  • March 20 vs. Dallas Stars: Celebrating Oil Country
  • April 10 vs. Winnipeg Jets: Fan Appreciation

There are six theme nights that will not be returning for the upcoming season: a Halloween Game, DĂa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), New Year’s Eve, South Asian Celebration, Olympic Send-Off, and St. Patrick’s Day Game.

Most of those are understandable, as the team does not have home games set for Halloween, New Year’s Eve, or St. Patrick’s Day this year, and there is no need for an Olympic Send-Off game as there are no Olympics this year.

The key additions returning to the promotional schedule are Ukrainian Heritage, Black Excellence, and Lunar New Year games, all of which took last season off.

The Day of the Dead and South Asian Celebration games will be taking the year off, but the Oilers have confirmed that both theme nights will return next year for their 2027-28 NHL season.

Oilers fans will be able to secure their spot for these theme nights when single-game tickets go on sale starting on Aug. 27 on the Oilers’ official website.
