Edmonton Oilers fans will soon have a new jersey they can add to their wardrobe.
All 32 teams will be introducing a new sweater next season as part of the NHL’s “Hometown Remix” program. It is believed to be similar to what we have seen in the MLB with the City Connect jerseys.
Rather than going with a white, navy, or even orange-based jersey, the Oilers new sweaters are expected to feature black as the primary colour, as per Chris Smith of Icethetics. This has also been reported on by Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk.
“The Oilers’ black base has already been reported. My source corroborates that, and says it shares elements with the navy blue third Edmonton originated in 2019. So, a return to neon orange accents seems possible as well.”
Gazzola also mentioned that the sweater will be similar to the cream-coloured uniforms the Oilers wore this past season.

“The black was confirmed to me,” Gazzola said in January. “The other thing I was told from people in the organization who approve and give it the final blessing is essentially, the new alternate jersey, it is like the counter to it.”

It remains to be seen whether these jerseys will stick around for the long haul or serve as a one-and-done look. We’ve seen that occur in the NHL in the past with the reverse retro program.
The Oilers will wind up donning four separate jerseys for the 2026-27 season. They will continue to wear the same home and road sweaters, while also keeping the cream-coloured alternate and adding this new Hometown Remix jersey. All teams are expected to wear their version between four and eight times next season.
