The demand for a new Costco in Alberta seems stronger than ever, and a new 151,000-square-foot location just shared an exciting update about its opening.

News of the Lloydminster Costco has been around since 2023, and according to its project website, it will also sit on a nearly 20-acre parcel of land and will mark the city’s first Costco location.

The store is located at 1703 75th Ave., and it is set to offer nearly 900 parking stalls, a tire centre, food service, dairy cooler, produce cooler, bakery, rotisserie, sushi prep, deli, hearing centre, pharmacy, a 4,350-square-foot liquor pod, and a gas bar, according to the Peak Construction Group.

In an email sent out to Costco members on Thursday morning, the company stated that the Lloydminster gas station is now open and will operate from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

It also revealed that the grand opening for the Lloydminster Costco is set for Thursday, Nov. 19.

With the Lloyd opening date secured and the Edmonton location still set to welcome shoppers next month, there will be a total of 20 Costco locations in Alberta, and there are others in the works in Calgary and Stony Plain.

The Calgary location is planned for Bingham Crossing, just west of the city, while another was recently revealed to be coming to the Stony Plain area, just west of Edmonton.
